Open Source software and other free-to-use tools for Data Analysis
PAleontological STatistics
PAST is a free, multiplatform (Windows, Mac) statistical analysis tool developed by Professor Øyvind Hammer from the University of Oslo. The software was originally designed to support the evaluation of paleontological data, but can also be used for general data analysis.

PSPP
PSPP is a stable and reliable, multiplatform (Windows, Mac, Linux) data analysis software with full SPSS compatibility. PSPP offers descriptive statistics, linear and logistic regression, ANOVA, various statistical tests, cluster analysis, factor analysis and a number of other methods and procedures.
SOFA – Statistics Open For All
SOFA is a particularly easy-to-use tool for statistical data analysis that is particularly suitable for beginners in the world of data science. It is freely available for Windows, Mac and Linux systems. SOFA creates high-quality graphical outputs and automatically enhances statistical analysis results with additional explanations and tips for interpretation.
JASP – Just Another Statistics Program
JASP is a fully Open Source statistics tool developed and supported by the University of Amsterdam. The dynamic user interface, in which the analysis results are adapted in real time to any changes in the output data or analysis parameters, is a particularly distinctive feature of the software. JASP is available for Windows, Mac and Linux systems.
SampleSizer
The free Windows software SampleSizer allows the calculation of the minimal sample size required for a representative survey based on the Cochran formula. Size of population, width and certainty of the confidence interval and sample proportion value are required as input parameters.
